Dealing with Teen age kids

Hello Everyone,

My daughter is 5 years old. She's not yet a teen-ager however I have seen some kids in my family who are in their teen-age, and their overall behaviour concerns me a lot. I have seen them staying in their room all day, being secretic all the time and they don't prefer sharing anything with their parents. I don't understand what has led them to drift away so much from their parents. What do you guys think?

Zehra

I understand your concern Zehra, and I totally feel parents are more responsible for this attitude than anyone else. We need to be friendly with our kids and listen to their problems instead of yelling at them or creating a constant fear in them. They gradually stop sharing when they know that sharing will result in anger and disapproval from parents. Hence, they start isolating themselves and make a world of their own. So i really feel parents need to work on their parenting style and only that way we can keep our kids close to us.

Lack of concern parents show. They are too busy in their own lives to give quality time to kids. Give quality time even if it is 3 4 hours but show ur full concentration and care. Kids are very sensitive nowadays.

Hey people

okay so you all are talking about tehnology i'll say it depends on how we use it, for little kids despite the fact that its spoiling them on the other hand its also a great source for learning, many educational games are there to help your child enhance his creativity even simple Paint program also helps in developing mind's intelligence and also helps kids to express their imaginary feelings on just a simple white coloured window. i'll say mom should keep an eye on their activities that is it! :)

kids need attention

kids need attention and specially young teenage girls. if we have friendly environment at home , we can cultivate that in our young kids as well and they wont feel isolated.
